Trimpots, also known as potentiometers, are multi-turn adjustable resistors used for adjustment, calibration, and tuning purposes in circuits. They are easily mountable on PCB boards with a pin spacing of 0.1-inches and adjusted by a screwdriver. The internal resistive track is a carbon composition or cermet.

To use a trimpot potentiometer, connect the CCW (pin 1) and CW (pin 3) terminal with positive supply and ground terminal, respectively. A variable output will be present at the wiper terminal (pin 2). To adjust output value, rotate the screw on the top of the trimpot, which rotates the wiper inside the potentiometer, and varies the resistance.
