Wide Sensing Bandwidth

A photodiode is a semiconductor diode sensitive to photon radiation, such as visible light, infrared or ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and gamma rays. A Silicon based photodiode generates less noise than regular germanium-based photodiodes.

Because of their low-costs, the photodiode is great for any application where light-sensing in needed with abundant speed capabilities. You can easily interface them to devices like Arduino and Raspberry Pi or any microcontroller or stand-alone applications.
