The IRLZ44N is a logic level MOSFET, which it is suitable to be driven from low voltages at logic levels.
The IRLZ44N is a perfect match when used with an Arduino for controlling of higher power devices. When controlling more than a few amps, it is advisable to heat sink the device.
From your Arduino (or TTL output) pin, use a 150 to 1k ohm series resistor to the Gate pin. It is also advisable to use a 10k ohm resistor from the Gate to Ground.
