These prewired SMD 1206 LEDs can be used in many electronics projects, including by hobbyists and model builders. They are commonly used in scale models for everything from street and house lighting to tail and indicator lights on cars and scale model trains to model boats, planes, cars, spaceships, or anything you may want to add a tiny indicator light.

Other advantages of the SMD LEDs compared to incandescent bulbs, which run hotter and burn out quickly. LEDs are also available in a wide variety of colors.

The SMD LEDs are some of the most miniature light sources available and can be challenging to solder connection wires to without specialized equipment and a steady hand.

We offer these prewired SMD LEDs with a pair of 11-inch (28cm) connection wires already attached along with a build-in dropping resistor allowing for safe connection to supply voltages of 8V to 15V. If you are handy and have the necessary delicate soldering equipment, we also off the same LEDs in a do-it-yourself option bulk package along with prewired SMD LEDs without the dropping resistor already installed (see our SMD LED options) which can save yourself costs by wiring your LEDs yourself.

SMD 1206 LED Dimensions

SMD LEDs (Surface Mount Device) LEDs are some of the most miniature LEDs available. They are available in several standardized sizes.

Power Requirements

These LEDs already have a series resistor installed, which allows them to operate over a wide voltage range without needing to install a separate resistor. Although conservatively rated for 8-15V, they can safely run from 5V to 16V.
