LM2596S Step-Down Regulator Module

Regulated 1.25V to 35V DC Output

The LM2596S Step-Down Regulator Module is a step-down (buck) switching regulator that can drive a 3A load with excellent line and load regulation.

The LM2596s series operates at a switching frequency of 150kHz, allowing for smaller-sized filter components than what would be required with lower frequency switching regulators.

The output voltage is adjustable with the multi-turn trimpot (potentiometer) that you can use to adjust the LM2596's output voltage. Since the trimpot is multi-turn, the output voltage can be set precisely.

The module has capabilities of delivering up to 3A of output current. For prolonged usage at 3A, it is advisable to install a heatsink. Currents of up to 2A will not need a heatsink.

Important: The module features an onboard power indicator LED on the module's output. The LED has a 1k ohm resistor in series as a current limiting resistor. If adjusting the output voltage for over 15 volts, it is recommended to remove the LED or swap the 1k ohm resistor for a higher resistance to prevent the resistor from getting too hot and protect the LED from damage.

Usage Details:

• Provide power to Input (4V-40V), and the power out indicator LED will illuminate, indicating the module is working.
• Adjust the blue potentiometer knob (clockwise rotation will increase the output voltage, while counter-clockwise will lower the output voltage). A voltmeter across the output will display the set output voltage.
