FTDI Compatible USB to TTL Serial Adapter Board

Supports Both 3.3V and 5V Outputs

USB to TTL serial converter board supports both 5V and 3.3V operation (set by onboard shorting-block).

Uses include programming of microcontrollers such as the Pro Mini 328, which does not offer an onboard USB port. Interface with devices such as routers and switches or serial communication-enabled devices like a GPS.

The adapter board includes a right-angle 0.1" connector allowing for direct connection to devices like the Pro Mini 328 or into a standard prototype or wireless breadboard. USB onboard connection uses a Mini USB connector.

The main connector has six connection pins:

• DTR: Data Terminal Ready - an output used for flow control
• RX: Serial data Receive pin
• TX: Serial data Transmit pin
• VCC: Positive voltage output. Controlled by the onboard jumper. If the jumper is set to 5V, this will provide a 5V output. Likewise, if the jumper is set to 3.3V, this will provide a 3.3V output.
• CTS: Clear To Send - an input used for flow control
• GND: Ground

For most common users, only three pins are required:

• RX on this board to the TX pin on your device
• TX on this board to the RX pin on your device
• GND on this board to GND on your device

VCC is capable of powering low-power devices or circuits. Do not use the VCC pin when the device has a separate power supply, as this may damage both devices.
