Flexible WS2812 NeoPixel 8x8 Matrix (64 LEDs)

Based on WS2812B RGB LEDs 

WS2812B based NeoPixel matrix modules contain 64 5050 RGB LEDs on 80mm x 80mm (3.1-inch x 3.1-inch) flexible PCB.

We have a page dedicated to the setup, connection, and software necessary to drive a NeoPixel Ring set directly from an Arduino ATTiny85. 

Connection:

There are three sets of connections on the 8x8 matrix.

• Input:
  • 5V: Power (4v to 6v DC)
  • GND: Common Ground connection for signal and power
  • DIN: Input signal from your control processor

• Output:
  • 5V: Power (4v to 6v DC)
  • GND: Common Ground connection for signal and power
  • DOUT: Output signal from your matrix board to connect to next module

• Power Input:
  • 5V: Power (4v to 6v DC)
  • GND: Common Ground connection for signal and power

Uses only one microcontroller pin to control as many as you can chain together! Each LED is addressable as the driver chip is inside the LED.

The LED matrix is chain-able by connecting the output of one board into the input of another. There is a single data line. The drive protocol is very sensitive to timing. It requires a real-time microcontroller such as an AVR, Arduino, or PIC.

Optional Matching Connectors:

The display board uses connectors on the DIN and DOUT connection which are 3-pin JST SM connectors. A male connector on one, and a female connector on the other. We also have available a matching connector set (see 3-Pin JST SM Connector Set) should you require these for your project.
